Several years ago, we purchased a small home in the Historic District located in Boise’s north end. We fell in love with the area as well as the home. After owning it for a number of years, we were fortunate to purchase a lot next door. To fulfill our dream of a beautiful unique North End family home, we began a search for a local architect who could design the expansion to conform to the architectural design of the existing buildings, would allow us to participate in the design process, and was willing to assist us in developing and controlling a budget. We feel blessed to have found Ken Reed. A master plan was prepared, and projects were developed in chronological order to allow the work to be completed over time. Today, we are enjoying our dream home thanks to Ken.
From the very beginning, Ken really listened to our need for historic accuracy and integrity, functionality/flow and overall beauty. He truly understands his craft and has a unique set of problem solving skills. Ken has taken several of our projects to the Historic District for its approval, and enjoys an amazing success rate with it. His approach is always low key and absolutely on point. We highly recommend Ken to anyone looking for an architect. Not only will you receive a wonderful work product, you will meet an individual you will become friends with for life!

When I asked around who was the best Architect in Boise, I was repeatedly told Ken Reed. So when I called him to come take a look at my 1938 rental disaster in the East End, he enthusiastically said, “I’ll be there in 10 minutes!” When he showed up, he had a big grin on his face because my house was his kind of project. After we had crawled through the attic and the basement and inched our way through the tiny galley kitchen, he had these four words to say: “It’s got good bones.” That’s all I needed to hear, and we set about taking this diamond in the rough from “Rentally Abused” to “Gracefully Understated.” The transformation was comprehensive and exciting. Without Ken’s vision, this old beauty would have languished until a wrecking ball claimed her for the good of the neighborhood. Ken gets my unequivocal recommendation, not only for being a great architect and all around good dude, but as we discovered a year after we met, for being my long lost cousin (I was lost, not him)!
